Life Is Good.

After the drama and insanity that has been a staple of life at school, everything seems to be calming down and going well.  Of course, nothing is perfect, but things are good.

I gave up spending unnecessary money for Lent.  Things that are deemed necessary include gas, paying my dues (and most things related to my sorority, like looking for formal dresses because I’ll need TWO this semester), and … well, that might be it.  Emergencies are, of course, necessary expenses.  It’s going well so far, but Lent just started on Wednesday.

We had free movie night for my school on Friday night, and a bunch of us saw Music and Lyrics.  I wasn’t expecting it to be fantastic, but I liked it a lot.  It was really funny (Parts of it were really good satire.) and cute, and the music was super catchy.  That would be why a good fourth of my school is humming a fake 80’s pop song.

I have a paper due on Tuesday.  I have to pick a show and analyze it based on Marxist thought, which includes things like class structure.  I’m doing Lost.  There are too many characters for something not to work out, and based on the information my professor gave me, I think Lost will work quite nicely.  Besides, if I can analyze the semiology of How I Met Your Mother, I think I can handle Marxist thought in Lost.

In other news, I feel great about next year.  I’m only taking thirteen hours (ten of which are part of the eighteen hours I need to graduate), including a class taught by a state senator on campaigning.  Also, we had Scholarship Day at my school yesterday, and I got to meet fifty of some of the best and brightest future students.  They are incredible people, and I hope all (or most) of them end up here because it would be just fabulous to see all these brilliant, well-rounded kids on campus :).

I think that’s pretty much it.  I guess I’ll start watching Lost and start writing that paper …
