The cold has calmed down considerably, and I feel much more human today. Being sick all day yesterday made me feel like a tiny little zombie person, and that is just not a good feeling. Major thanks to Tylenol (in caplet form) and my bed for making me feel a hundred times better today!
I had my first experience with Benadryl the other day, too. Because I thought my sickness was, in fact, allergies, my good friend Elizabeth hooked me up with some Benadryl. The result? I fell asleep pretty much as soon as I got in the bed, and when my alarm went off at 7:45 a.m., I was very confused as to why something was waking me up because surely it isn’t Monday already … but it was.
I have two days left at the radio station. I am a little bit excited and also a little bit sad. I’m going to miss the constant craziness of radio people and all the free coffee I can drink. However, I am not going to miss the forced awkward conversations with new sales representatives. (One of them introduced himself to me and said, “I pretend like I work here,” which confused me because, hello, I am here for nine hours a week … do you really work here or not? The other one complimented me on my dress and told me of her love for polka dots.) Also, I’m pretty sure I’m NOT going to miss waking up early, but I will miss most of the people … and getting my desk stolen … and secretly hoping one of the sales representatives will wear something you would only see on TLC’s A Makeover Story circa 2001. Y’all know exactly what I’m talking about.
Speaking of TLC, my family didn’t have cable until I was fifteen. (We had it when we lived in Fort Campbell, but it’s not like I remember. Also, we may have had it for, like, a year when we were in California, but again … I can’t remember.) Before then, I watched a lot of PBS, especially Antiques Roadshow and Are You Being Served? and Keeping Up Appearances and all the cooking shows, especially anything with Julia Child. PBS is also where I discovered Michael Chiarello. Love it! Once we got cable, I watched a lot of Food Network and TLC (and I still do), especially when I was home from school or when While You Were Out was still on. I am still confused as to why Trading Spaces — which has no host! — is still on the air, but While You Were Out is not. Someone get on that, please.
I realize that last paragraph really shows y’all what a nerd I am. I was never a big MTV girl, but TLC? Yes, please. What a dork …
