Just a Little Bit Longer

Raise your hand if you can believe it’s been three weeks already.

I have surpassed the halfway point, and even though Sunday is officially three weeks, I cannot believe time has passed this quickly. There are so many wonderful people here, and I am learning a lot of new and practical vocabulary (haha). I am having a fantastic time being quasi-continental! I am excited for the next two weeks and all the new experiences that should bring, but more than anything, I am excited to speak English full-time. Don’t think I won’t be throwing some French in, though. This is officially the end of my formal education in a foreign language (How weird.), and I don’t want to forget any of it!

I have learned that I miss very random things while in Canada. For example, I miss McDonald’s, which I don’t even like that much. Who would have thought that out of all the food in the States, I would want some McNuggets that badly? (On a fun note, the Québécois call McDonald’s McDodo … bahaha.) I also miss hearing American music that I actually enjoy — not that it’s not nice to hear Gwen Stefani every time the radio is tuned to a station that plays American music.

Um, I am picking up where I left off, like, three days ago.  Awesome!

Even though I miss a lot of things Stateside, I really am having fun.  My host family and I went to their chalet this past weekend.  It was fun and calm.  One of their friends came to visit, and she brought her two sons, Mathieu, who is almost four, and Justin, who is a year and a half.  Mathieu professed his undying love for me; it would figure that a four-year-old loves me and not a twenty-one-year-old ;).

Hmm … I think that’s all for now.  It is officially week four, and there’s still so much to do, including lots of shopping for souvenirs for some people I love a little bit.  I’ll update more soon, I promise!
