I do! I have my English final tomorrow morning at 10:30, and I need to finish re-reading the last short story that will supposedly be featured on the exam. I’m not quite sure how I feel about the exam yet; I’ve made A’s on everything except for one test (and no one did well on that one), so I should make an A in the class, but that one bad grade is coming back to haunt me. I have this sneaking suspicion that I’ll end up with a B, and that, y’all, is nonsense. But at the same time, it wouldn’t really affect my GPA all that much; it’s more of a pride thing. This class has been pretty similar to AP Lit, which I took four — Yep, count ‘em — years ago in high school, and it’s not been difficult, but the teaching style has left a lot to be desired. I’m ready for that course evaluation. Bring it.
I think I mentioned being sick earlier, and while I am feeling better and sound less like a Southern Fran Drescher or a man, I coughed all night last night. I’d fall asleep for about twenty minutes and wake up to a violent coughing fit. It was great. In fact, it was so great that when I woke up this morning, my whole chest hurt. Yeah, I’m hard core.
Here’s some random food for thought: I haven’t seen most movies that are series. This includes Star Wars, Star Trek, Indiana Jones, The Godfather (Yes, I am Italian-American and have never seen The Godfather. Embarrassing but true.), Rocky, etc. That’s kind of random, and if you take into many factors including but not limited to my heritage, my brother’s love of Star Wars and Star Trek (not on a Trekkie level, though), and my friends, it is also rather surprising. I was actually really uncomfortable telling one of my friends I’d never seen Indiana Jones; it’s his favorite movie series, and he has a countdown until the fourth installment comes out. I thought he’d disown me forever, but instead, he whipped out Raiders of the Lost Ark and made me watch it. I’m glad it wasn’t disappointing, but I’m still not sure if I can get on board with a series of movies whose main character is named after the most boring state in the union. Is that irony, George Lucas? I have my concerns. It’s kind of like “Mary Jane’s Last Dance” by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers — great song, but why did Mary Jane grow up in an Indiana town with a good lookin’ mama who never was around? Aren’t you from Florida, Tom Petty? Go with that.
Speaking of Tom Petty, the Colts really need to make it to the Super Bowl. That way, my favorite football team AND Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers can be in the same place and be awesome together. I mean, I’ll still watch, but the quality of my life would be improved if the Colts could go ahead and take it home again. Then Indiana might be worth singing about.
All right, this study break is officially over. Back to the books …
