1. Wrapping paper or gift bags?
It depends on the present.
2. Real tree or artificial?
I love real trees, but we have a fake one at my parents’ house.
3. When do you put up the tree?
The beginning of December
4. When do you take the tree down?
Before my sister and I go back to school
5. Do you like egg nog?
I haven’t had it in a long time. It kind of sicks me out, but I’m not opposed to trying it.
6. Favorite gift received as a child?
When I was in sixth grade, my parents bought me new bedding as part of my real Christmas present: a bedroom makeover. I should note that that bedding is still on my bed, and that was eleven years ago.
7. Do you have a nativity scene?
No, we don’t. We have a few Christmas ornaments with the nativity scene on them, though.
8. Hardest person to buy for?
My brother, mostly because he doesn’t ever really help people out with a list.
9. Easiest person to buy for?
My mama. She’s just happy if all three of us can come back for Christmas.
10. Mail or email Christmas cards?
E-mailing Christmas cards does not count as mailing Christmas cards.
11 .Worst Christmas gift you ever received?
Um, my grandmother, the one who lives, like, ten minutes away from my parents, once gave my brother, my sister, and me gift bags full of shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion samples. You know, like the ones hotels put in the bathroom. I’m not kidding.
12 . Favorite Christmas movie?
The claymation Rudolph, The Year Without a Santa Claus, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Elf, and Love Actually. I really love Christmas movies, though.
13 . Have you ever recycled a Christmas present?
Nope
14. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas?
My family eats lasagna on Christmas, and that’s the only time my mama makes it. It’s the best holiday meal EVER.
15 . Clear lights or colored on the tree?
I can handle colored lights on a tree, but I prefer white lights.
16 . Favorite Christmas songs:
Leroy Anderson, “Sleigh Ride” – This is the instrumental version, and it’s my favorite.
Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, “Mr. Heatmiser”
Mariah Carey, “All I Want for Christmas Is You”
Bing Crosby, “Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow” and “White Christmas”
Judy Garland, “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”
Guster, “Donde Esta Santa Claus?”
Ingram Hill, “Santa Claus Is Back in Town”
Dean Martin, “Baby, It’s Cold Outside”
Elvis Presley, “Blue Christmas” and “Santa Claus Is Back in Town”
Frank Sinatra, “The Christmas Song”
Interestingly enough, none of these songs are about Jesus, who is the reason for the holiday. Maybe I should re-evaluate my Christmas music choices.
17. Travel at Christmas or stay home?
Well, I travel to my parents’ house, which is technically “home.”
18. Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer?
Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen, and Rudolph
19. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning?
Christmas morning. My parents NEVER let us open a single present on Christmas Eve, but I’m pretty sure that’s because they never wrap presents until Christmas Eve.
20. Most annoying thing about this time of year?
I’m annoyed that my taste in Christmas music isn’t so much about Jesus when it’s his birthday, but generally speaking, there’s just an overwhelming lack of “Christmas spirit.” People can be downright ugly at Christmas, and aren’t you supposed to be cheerful?
21 . Favorite ornament theme or color?
Blue and silver, but my parents’ Christmas tree has a definite lack of theme.
22. When do you start shopping for Christmas?
Haha … depends on how much money I have! I’m doing mine next week.
23. What do you want for Christmas this year?
I have no idea! Um, let me get back to you.
24. Angel or star on top of tree?
I like them both. It depends on the year what goes on the top of the tree. Sometimes it’s an angel, sometimes it’s a little Santa.
25. What do/did you leave for Santa?
Lots of cookies, all homemade by yours truly.
