1.  I drove home to Jackson on Friday, slept in my own bed, and spent some time with my sorority sisters.  Life is good.

2.  I had to go in the office yesterday to drop off reply cards and expense reports and pick up new materials, more expense reports, and some friendly office gossip from my favorite coworker.  My boss stopped in to pick up budget reports, and as very few of us have talked to him at all in the past two weeks, he called us in his office for a little powwow to check in on us.  Good news:  He’s really proud of the work my favorite coworker (We’ll call her J.) and I are doing, he’s really displeased with an unqualified member of our staff, and he’s got Plans for our office.  Bad news:  I didn’t leave for Birmingham until 7:30.  Oy.

3.  I added an extra hour and a half to my drive to Birmingham yesterday because I left a pair of shoes in my hotel room in Huntsville.  You can judge all you want, but you would have done the same thing.  My poor little shoes needed to be rescued!  I couldn’t just leave them in Huntsville.

4.  Mostly I couldn’t just leave them because I need them.  I only have two pairs of brown dress shoes, and they’re my favorites.  And I’m kind of going to be gone for three weeks because they changed my travel schedule, so really, I do need them.

5.  I checked into my hotel at one o’clock this morning.  I slept from about two until nine, and the phone in my hotel room just rang.  I am really glad I was already awake and planning on being up and about this early on a Saturday morning because it’s the most obnoxious ring I have ever heard in all my life.

That’s about all I’ve got.
