Two Hundred

It’s been almost two full years since I started this blog, but by golly, I have made it to two hundred posts.  It seems wholly bizarre that I haven’t written more than that, but WordPress does not lie.

Thanks to all three of my loyal readers and to the many thousands of visitors who have visited my site.  I hope you’ve found something of interest here, even if it is just what the meaning of “Jordans on Saturday” is.  I know I’ve learned a lot in the past two hundred posts — and chances are, I’ve shared what I’ve learned with y’all, too.  See?  I am nothing if not helpful.

The whole reason I started this blog was to chronicle my life in Canada for my family and friends.  Remember when I went to Chicoutimi and lived with a couple of retired lesbians and hiked a mountain and spoke nothing but French (okay, mostly nothing but French) for five weeks?  It was genuinely one of the best experiences of my life, and I sincerely wish I would have had more time to write about it, as it was the purpose of this blog.

The operative word in that sentence is “was.”  I changed my mind and decided to use this as a method for sharing my sometimes funny, often mundane life stories with my family and friends.  And then I remembered that I have a terrible habit of telling people the good stories when I talk to them (and often force people to hear some stories several times because I can’t remember who’s heard them), so sharing the link to this blog seemed unnecessary.  To this day, only a few close friends know about this.  Maybe one day more people will.  We’ll see.  My life is pretty wholesome for someone my age — I could say boring, but wholesome sounds a little more positive. — so it’s not like I have anything to hide.

Now, two hundred posts later, my blog has evolved from stories about my life in college to stories about my life working for my college.  My job is my life now, and even though that’s mildly depressing, it’s no secret that I love my job.  I’m proud of the work I do, I’m proud of the university for which I work, and I’m proud to be an alumna.  I know I’ll have some good stories coming soon, and I know that as time passes, my life will be a little more full — maybe when travel season ends, I’ll have other things to talk about.  Maybe?  Maybe just something else, please?

I think the most important thing is that this blog wasn’t really created to have a massive following.  It’s just a more convenient way to chronicle my life (because I type WAY faster than I write), and I’m just happy to have had one person read this.  Thanks to all the visitors and all the commentors.  I’m glad to have y’all, and I hope y’all keep coming back for the next two hundred posts — and then some.
