Why Today Was Good:

- West Side Story was on last night/early this morning.  Of course I stayed up and watched the end.

- There is a Krispy Kreme conveniently located down the street (and on the way to my first high school) from where I stayed in Tallahassee last night. Hello, breakfast.

- I talked to high school students for the first time in a few days.  It seems silly and trivial, especially considering that is essentially all I do; however, I’m doing what J, one of my coworkers, and I call “special ops” now, and all I’ve been doing is talking to guidance counselors.  Talking with high school students is a big deal.

- My other visits were amazing, too.  I will give Florida credit for having amazing guidance counselors.  I’m sure the students are equally amazing.

- I didn’t get a speeding ticket today.

- I’m done with Florida.  Sorry, y’all, but the state does not much impress me.  It’s the California in me.  (I very much like the people, though.)

- I’m back in Alabama!  I’m in Mobile tonight, and there’s an El Chico here.  I’m a fan.

- The weekend I was in McDonough, I visited the Gap Outlet and bought the first pair of jeans I can (most likely) throw in the dryer and not worry about.  This is a feat of major proportions for me. Unfortunately, this means they are kind of awkwardly stretched out; while that is super comfortable, it’s super unattractive and totally negates the “long and lean” purpose of the jeans.  Not a good look for girls with lower bodies like Shawn Johnson.

- This sweater has found a new home with me.  Mine’s black.  Y’all aren’t surprised.

- The rest of the week is going to be twelve kinds of fabulous:  Alabama is always kind to me, the probability of me doing a college fair tomorrow night is high (so happy J is in Alabama this week!), best band ever is in Huntsville on Thursday night (and J and I will be, too … yay), and I’m going home this weekend — and just in time.  I have to do laundry like crazy, and I’m getting a little homesick.  Who knew?

And how was your day today?
