Too Old.

After a lovely five hour drive from Lexington, Kentucky back home to Jackson in which I was almost killed at the hands of a semi driver, I got to spend two nights in my own bed.  I also got to spend two nights catching up with my sorority sisters and favorite group of fraternity boys (Sorry, kids, I am not going to call you fraternity men until you can act like it — not that that’s bad!).  I also got to spend the morning and early part of the afternoon working my school’s fall open house.  All in all, a pretty good weekend.

However, after two nights of staying up later than usual, it has become apparent to me that I am getting old.  It has also become apparent that I am getting old because I didn’t know some of the people at the Homecoming festivities.  That’s weird.  Also weird:  I can’t find a man my own age (or older) who wants anything to do with me, but boys in the sixteen to twenty age range love me.  Call me when you graduate college … or don’t because I just don’t know that I can date someone younger … too weird.  I did get to see some of my favorite fellow alums and got to celebrate BIG TIME at a sorority sister’s wedding, which was fabulous.  It’s always nice to see old faces, and I’m so happy some good people decided to come to town.  I’m happy things haven’t changed that much.  I’m happy to be home.

Being home doesn’t last long, though; I’m leaving this afternoon for a week full o’ Georgia, a weekend full o’ Memphis, a Monday full o’ visiting the doctor, and, with any luck, a few days back here.
