Big Girl World scored another point today.
Last weekend, I went to Memphis to visit one of my best friends and to do a little shopping for the apartment. While waiting for my friend, who was kind of delayed because she had a flat, I noticed one of my tires looked a little low. Fortunately, if you’re looking for a gas station, Exit 18/the Wolfchase area of Bartlett will take care of you. I put air in it, hopped back over to World Market, and didn’t think anything of it.
That tire was completely flat yesterday morning. I had some errands to run, so I ran to the gas station and put air in it. It looked fine; I figured I didn’t screw the cap on tight enough last weekend. My little tire looked fine and held up throughout the day of running around town, so of course I wasn’t expecting it to be kind of flat AGAIN this morning when I went out to my car so I could go for a run in the park. (Did I mention it was fifty degrees and sunny here? Suck it, cold weather.) I believe I said, “Are you freaking serious?” out loud in the parking lot, so I went back in and called my daddy, who is still my mechanic of choice despite the almost five hundred mile separation. Daddy said to take it somewhere to have them see if they could fix it; otherwise, it might be beneficial to buy a new tire.
Can I just tell y’all there is nothing I would like to do less than buy a new tire? Ugh. Fortunately, the good people at Wal Mart fixed whatever was wrong with it for, like, ten bucks, so first of all, thanks, and second of all, AWESOME.
Still, this would have been much easier if my parents didn’t live somewhere lame like Indiana. Memo to Mama and Papa A: Maybe y’all should move to Memphis. Or Bartlett. Or Collierville. Or Cordova. Or Germantown. Or maybe somewhere nice in Fayette County. I’ll take forty-five minutes over six and a half hours any day.
In other news, I’m trying out the Special K diet, and I kind of wish there was some sort of Special K cake or something because ugh, all I want is a piece of cake, and I don’t quite think cake figures into the plan. It doesn’t help that Ultimate Recipe Showdown is the cake episode tonight. Good planning, Allie.
