I’m not even going to think about how many hours I spent in the car over my vacation.  The number probably rivals some of my better weekends on the road, which makes me think of work, which is NOT how I plan on spending the last four hours of my time off.  I’m really not ready to go back to work.  The only consolation is knowing this week is a short one and that the weekend entails a trip to Memphis to see Josh Kelley at Newby’s.  Things could be worse.

I’m very happy to be back in Jackson, although I miss my family.  Ever since I moved to Jackson, I’ve  been hoping and praying something comes up in Memphis so my parents can be closer to me.  That reaches a whole new level of selfishness, especially considering I have two other siblings who live in two other places.  I’m sure they think the same thing, though.  With parents as awesome as ours, who wouldn’t wish they lived closer?  I thought that hoping and praying for my parents to move closer would subside with time, but it should go without saying that five years later, I still feel the same way.

In other news, over the weekend, my daddy told me there was a possibility I wouldn’t have to pay the state of Indiana my income taxes (because I was legally a resident of Indiana and working in Tennessee).  I was all kinds of excited, and then I looked into it and realized that only works if Tennessee took taxes out.  Nope.  Tennessee doesn’t have income tax.  I’m stuck having to pay Indiana.  Ugh.  You’re welcome, Hoosiers.  Enjoy half of my federal return.  No, really, the state of Indiana insists.

Anyway, that’s really all the news I’ve got.  I’m going to go enjoy the last bit of my vacation before returning to work with two days of work to do.  On the bright side, I can’t possibly say I won’t have anything to do tomorrow, right?
