My name is Allie, and this is my life.

I’m twenty-four years old and currently a resident of Virginia.  The Old Dominion State is my fifth place of residence in twenty-four years, so I’m a bit of a nomad.  I like change (assuming, of course, I have made the decision to make the change!), and in an odd twist of fate, I’m actually quite content with the idea of staying put.

Virginia was never part of the plan, but my life is a testament to how plans change.  Life is funny.  One day, you’re living in Tennessee and thinking everything will always be the way it is; a few weeks later, you’re in a small town in Virginia, and you’re not exactly sure what’s next.  And now, almost two years later, I am finally embracing the beauty of not knowing.

I started this blog in January 2007 as a means to keep in touch with my family and to chronicle my adventures in college.  It seemed like a great idea at the time; unfortunately, the execution is where it failed.  As it turns out, I’m a bit of a Chatty Cathy, and I told my parents everything I’d write about here.  Whoops.

It’s funny to think of how much has changed in almost four years of doing this.  I’m not really writing about what’s happening as a college student.  No, no.  Now I write about what’s happening as a college employee.  (My life and college are constants; everything else is subject to change.)

I’ve truly enjoyed the creative outlet and the ability to use this as a kind of scrapbook of my life.  I’ve written about almost everything that’s happened, and it’s equally disturbing, fascinating, and hilarious to relive those memories.  All in all, I’m still the same girl I was then — just older and presumably wiser.  We’ll see about the latter.
